Rodent Infestation Cleaned Out of a Car Engine Bay in Orlando, FL

A car that sat parked for a while picked up an unwanted visitor under the hood. We cleaned, sanitized, and deodorized the engine bay and the cabin until the smell was gone for good.

The problem

Sonya’s car had not been driven much for a while. That is exactly the kind of car rodents look for. They got into the engine bay, and an infestation like that leaves a real mess and a strong smell behind. The smell was strong enough that it had worked its way into the cabin too, not just under the hood.

This is one of the harder jobs we take on. Rodent nests are not just dirty, they can carry bacteria, and the cleanup needs to be thorough, not just a quick wipe. Sonya knew the car needed real help, not a regular wash.

What we did

We started under the hood. We removed the nesting material by hand, then cleaned and degreased the engine bay components to get rid of the grime and debris the rodents left behind. Once the engine bay was physically clean, we sanitized it to cut down on the bacteria and odor that comes with a rodent nest.

From there we moved to the cabin. We deep cleaned the interior and sanitized and deodorized every surface the smell had reached, so the car did not just look clean, it actually smelled normal again.

The result

When we finished, the engine bay looked like new and the smell was gone from the whole car, engine bay and cabin both. Sonya was relieved. Nobody wants to open the hood of their own car and find that kind of mess, and nobody wants to drive around with that smell every day.

“He went above and beyond to get the ENTIRE car clean, sanitized and smelling nice again. I’m sure it wasn’t easy but he never complained.”

Why it matters for Central Florida drivers

Florida’s warm, humid climate is exactly the kind of environment rodents look for, especially when a car sits still for days or weeks at a time. Cars parked under carports, near grass or trees, or left in a garage for long stretches are the most common targets. A nest in the engine bay is not just gross, chewed wires and hoses can turn into a real mechanical problem if it is not caught in time.

If you notice a strange smell when you start your car, see debris under the hood, or find chewed material near the engine, it is worth having it looked at and cleaned before it gets worse. We handle this kind of job regularly for drivers across the Orlando area.

Questions we get about this

How do I know if rodents got into my car’s engine?

Look for a bad smell when you start the car, chewed wires or hoses, droppings, or nesting material like leaves, insulation, or paper packed into the engine bay. A musty smell that was not there before is usually the first sign.

Can a detailer actually clean out a rodent infestation?

Yes. We remove the nesting material, clean and degrease the engine bay, and sanitize it. If the smell has spread into the cabin, we deep clean and deodorize the interior as well.

Will the smell come back after the car is cleaned?

Once the nesting material and contamination are fully removed and the area is sanitized, the smell should not come back on its own. If rodents find their way back into the same spot, a new nest can build up again, so it helps to figure out how they got in and close that off.
