Carbon From $349 From $449 Blocks glare and adds privacy, no mirror look, 5-10 year lifespan
Ceramic From $599 From $749 Blocks up to 85% of heat and 99% of UV, 10-20+ year lifespan

How Dark Can You Legally Tint a Car in Florida?

This is the question people actually search for, and most detailers get it wrong or leave it vague. Here’s the real law.

Florida Window Tint Law

  • Front side windows: must let in more than 28% of light, for every vehicle type, no exceptions
  • Rear side windows and rear windshield, sedans/cars: must let in more than 15% of light
  • Rear side windows, SUVs, trucks, and vans: can go as dark as 6%
  • Reflectivity: front side up to 25%, rear up to 35%
  • Not allowed: mirror or excessively metallic finishes, red, amber, or blue tint
  • Medical exemption: Florida law allows a physician-certified exemption for light-sensitivity conditions like lupus or photosensitivity, requiring form HSMV 83390
  • Penalties: a tint violation is a nonmoving traffic infraction under Florida Statute 316.2953. No points on your license. Base fine is $30, but county court costs typically bring the total to around $100-$150 per citation

We install to the legal limit for your specific vehicle type, every time. If you want the darkest legal option, we’ll tell you exactly what percentage that is before we start, not after. Every install also gets the required manufacturer compliance sticker applied between the film and the glass, which is exactly what an officer checks for.

Who Actually Installs Your Tint?

A licensed, dedicated tint specialist we work with specifically for this service, someone who installs film all day, every day. Everything else on this site, detailing, ceramic coating, paint correction, is done directly by our own team. Booking, scheduling, and your point of contact all stay with us the whole way through.

Where Does the Tint Get Installed?

At our shop in Orlando, where the installer has a clean, controlled space to work. Drop your vehicle off and we’ll handle scheduling with the installer directly, you deal with us, not a third party.

Common Questions

Everything you need to know before booking.

How dark should I go?

Most Florida drivers choose the darkest legal percentage available for their vehicle type, since it’s the same price either way. We’ll walk you through the legal limits above before you decide.

Will tint actually keep my car cooler?

Ceramic film blocks up to 85% of infrared heat, the kind that makes a parked car unbearable in Florida summer. Carbon film helps too, but ceramic is the real answer if heat is your main reason for tinting.

How long does tint last?

Carbon film typically lasts 5-10 years. Ceramic film lasts 10-20+ years with proper care. Neither will bubble or purple like old-style dyed tint.

Can I get tint at the same time as other services?

Yes, tint pairs well with a full detail, ceramic coating, or PPF appointment, since the vehicle is already at our shop. Ask when you book.

While You’re Protecting the Glass, Protect the Paint Too

Tint protects what’s inside the car from the Florida sun. These protect the outside. Ceramic tint and ceramic coating are two different products, tint is film on your glass that blocks heat, coating is a liquid layer bonded to your paint that keeps it glossy. Most people who tint end up wanting both.
